A virtual river of pink rushed through Fashion Island on September 25, 2011, as more than 30,000 attendees joined forces for the 20th Annual Susan G. Komen Orange County Race for the Cure® in Newport Beach, Calif. Breast cancer survivors, clad in pink t-shirts and hats, raced alongside family, friends and advocates honoring loved ones touched by breast cancer in an effort to create a world without the disease. This year, Passion Growers provided a pink rose to each of the 2,000 survivors who were participating in the event.
The annual Komen Orange County Race for the Cure kicked-off breast cancer awareness month, which began October 1, and fundraising for Komen Orange County Race will continue through October 31. The Komen Orange County affiliate encourages further community involvement through volunteering, donations, and participating in the Passionately Pink for the Cure initiative to get communities involved in the fight against breast cancer.
